MR.JOE MUGENDI

Chief Registrar (Adminisration)

The Registrar at Nyandarua National Polytechnic is the chief administrative officer responsible for the management of student records and the coordination of academic affairs. This office serves as the primary point of contact for students from the moment they apply until they graduate, ensuring that the academic journey is well-organized and documented. By maintaining the integrity of academic processes, the Registrar ensures that the institution upholds its high standards of excellence.

A central responsibility of the Registrar is the management of admissions and student registration. This involves processing applications, verifying academic qualifications, and overseeing the enrollment of new students into various technical and vocational programs. The Registrar’s office ensures that the admission process is fair, transparent, and aligned with national TVET guidelines. Once students are admitted, the office maintains accurate and up-to-date records of their personal information and academic progress.

Academic scheduling and examination coordination also fall under the mandate of the Registrar. The office is responsible for developing the master timetable for classes and ensuring that learning facilities are used efficiently across different departments. Additionally, the Registrar oversees the administration of internal and external examinations. This includes the secure handling of exam papers, the management of results, and the coordination with national examining bodies like KNEC to ensure that students receive their certifications in a timely manner.

The Registrar also plays a key role in the graduation and certification process. As students complete their programs, the Registrar’s office verifies that all academic requirements have been met. They coordinate the preparation of transcripts and the issuance of certificates, ensuring that every graduate leaves with a recognized and valid credential. This function is essential for the credibility of the polytechnic and for the future career prospects of its students.

Furthermore, the Registrar acts as the secretary to the Academic Board and is responsible for implementing academic policies. The office monitors student attendance, manages student transfers, and ensures that the polytechnic’s academic regulations are followed by both staff and students. By providing a stable administrative framework, the Registrar allows the academic departments to focus on delivering high-quality training and innovation.
